Stainless steel changes the rules

The Cybertruck's exoskeleton is cold-rolled stainless steel. It's much harder than the steel or aluminum on a normal car, and standard body shop tools won't push a dent out of it. It takes different abrasives and different heat control, and you have to know what can be reshaped and what has to be replaced.

Because it's bare stainless, there's no traditional paint job either. A respray in a color isn't an option. Depending on the damage, the choices are:

  • Dent removal with specialized tools, for shallow surface dents
  • Replacing the panel with an OEM part from Tesla, for deep creases or damage to load-bearing panels
  • A vinyl wrap over the area
  • Ceramic coating

An honest look before the estimate

Some Cybertruck damage can be worked out and some can't. We look closely at it first and tell you which it is, so you aren't paying for a repair that won't hold up. If a panel has to be replaced, we'll explain why.

Beyond the body, the Cybertruck has Tesla's full set of driver assist cameras and sensors. After structural or exterior panel work, we recalibrate them in-house and check Autopilot before you get the truck back.

Cybertruck insurance claims

Many adjusters have never written a Cybertruck estimate. We document the stainless steel procedures in detail so the adjuster can see why the repair takes what it takes, and we send supplements when we find more damage. We work with every carrier, including State Farm as a DRP shop and Geico as a Drive-Thru location.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can dents in the stainless steel be fixed?

Small surface dents often can, with specialized tools. Deep creases or damage to the main load-bearing panels usually mean replacing the panel. We tell you which before we start.

Can a Cybertruck be painted?

Not in the usual body shop sense. The options are dent removal, OEM panel replacement, a vinyl wrap or ceramic coating.

Does insurance cover Cybertruck repairs?

If you have collision or comprehensive coverage, yes. We document the repair so the adjuster understands the stainless steel work.

How long does a Cybertruck repair take?

Usually longer than a regular repair, because stainless work is slower and some panels come from Tesla. We give you a timeline once we've seen the damage and text you updates.
